Maria
by Hope Holben of Spiritsong Bullmastiffs
Ms. Maria came to us as a 9 week old puppy that we continue to co-own with Bob and Lynn Spohr. She was sired by MBIS MBISS A/C Ch Bastion’s Music In The Glen RN BIS BISS GROM and her dam is A/C Ch Bastion’s Odds On Favorite GROM. This beautiful red head grew up with our very young daughters at the time and has always been the queen of our home.
Maria is the Foundation Bitch for SpiritSong Bullmastiffs. She is a moderate, very feminine girl. She has produced 2 litters for a total of 21 pups. She loved being a mama and would lick and clean her babies to the point that I would fear for their hide. Maria was our first show dog and even though the show ring was not her idea of a good time, she finished very quickly. Pam McClintock was kind enough to handle Ms. Maria in
Canada and Sherri Boldt had the honor of putting the final points on her in the United States. Maria then completed her RN and TDI in one 3 day weekend. Maria earned her Bronze ROM from just 5 puppies in her second litter.
Maria commands respect from the other dogs in our home. When it is time for her to guard against “the poachers” which may be walking down the sidewalk, she is quick to let the other dogs know that she can handle the situation and they are advised to move to the background. Even though Maria is an ever vigilant guard dog, she has not met a person that she does not adore and quickly offers a wagging tail and wet tongue. Ms. Maria has long been retired from the show ring and as of this year has earned the esteemed title of Veteran. She spends her days guarding our home and family and her nights claiming the title of bed dog where she again is queen stealing the best spot and most of the covers.
If I could change anything about her, I would add more bone. She passed on her beautiful clear red coat, her rock solid temperment, level topline and her inner grace and beauty to her children.
Thank you Bob and Lynn for the puppy of a lifetime.
